Matt Wood is Vice President of Safety, Validation & Product at May Mobility, where he's focused on one question: how do you prove an autonomous vehicle is ready for the road, and keep proving it as you scale?
Matt has spent two decades in automotive safety with over a decade in autonomous vehicle. He has taken driverless operations from first assessment to real-world scale, helping deploy fleets that carry paying customers across multiple locations around the globe. Along the way, he completed a third-party assessment for driver-out operations, validated the safety case for a vehicle with no human controls, and helped a fleet reach five million driverless miles.
He also co-authored the industry-first whitepaper Safety First for Autonomous Driving, which led to ISO TS 5083 and helped lay the groundwork for ISO 8800 on AI safety in road vehicles.
