Dr. Edward Straub is an independent consultant specializing in automated driving system (ADS) industry standards, strategy, and safety. He is the former Division Chief for Automation Standards in the Office of Automation Safety at NHTSA and spent a number of years as a senior leader at SAE as the Vice President for land systems, the Executive Director of the Automated Vehicle Safety Consortium (AVSC), and the Director of SAE International’s Office of Automation. He participates as a subject matter expert in multiple standards activities and has coordinated initiatives and information sharing between government and non-governmental organizations around the world. He is currently the chairperson of the On-Road Automated Driving Committee (ORAD), Behaviors and Maneuvers Task Force at SAE International.
