TestPro Automotive
When a camera feed drops out or an ADAS sensor throws an intermittent fault, the problem is often in the harness, not the module. Finding it has traditionally meant pulling the harness from the vehicle or rolling in a network analyzer and a PC. TestPro Automotive from AEM Networks puts that diagnostic power in a rugged handheld, so technicians can test high-speed data harnesses right where they are installed.
Built for the vehicle, not the bench
TestPro Automotive is a battery-powered tester with a rubberized shell designed for drops and harsh shop-floor conditions. Its compact form factor lets technicians reach connectors in tight spaces without a cart full of lab equipment. Hot-swappable adapters match different vehicle platforms and connector types, and support for frequencies up to 6 GHz covers the data links behind infotainment, ADAS, and EV systems, including high-frequency coax such as FPD-Link camera connections. The AD-6G-1P adapter adds return loss measurement to 6 GHz on automotive coaxial cables.
Find the fault, not just the failure
A dedicated Time Domain Reflectometry mode scans the full length of the cable for unexpected events such as kinks, then combines time-domain and frequency-based measurements into a simple PASS/FAIL result. When something fails, TestPro shows the anomaly’s distance and its position relative to known connectors, so technicians know exactly where to start the repair. The tester also identifies opens, shorts, and miswires and measures resistance, impedance, and return loss.
Configured once, repeated everywhere
Manufacturers can store test configurations for each harness, including connector locations, building a custom library for their vehicles that makes setup quick at any station or service bay. Smart Trace lets engineers set tailored limits for every harness design, so each technician applies the same criteria. The same configurations can follow a harness from engineering to the production line and the service network.
Results the whole team can use
Every test can be saved and reported, and results upload to the TestDataPro database where quality, engineering, and service teams can review them together. That record helps trace recurring issues back to their source and supports corrective action with real data.
Where TestPro Automotive fits
- End of line: Catch harness defects on the production floor before vehicles ship.
- Quality assurance: Verify suspect harnesses in place without disassembly.
- Service centers: Pinpoint faults quickly to cut diagnostic time and avoid unnecessary harness replacement.
The result is better quality control, faster diagnostics, and fewer costly warranty claims. For harness testing in the lab and at end of line, TestPro Automotive pairs with AEM’s MMVNA vector network analyzer, giving OEMs and suppliers one partner from first prototype to the service bay.
